Job Title: Geological Technologist

We are seeking a highly skilled Geological Technologist to join our team at New Gold Inc. in a permanent position.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will assist in environmental audits, conduct environmental audits, and design measures to minimize undesirable environmental effects of mining and oil and gas operations. They will also perform clerical duties, prepare rock, mineral or metal samples, and assist in hydrogeological field and laboratory studies.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in environmental audits and conduct environmental audits
  • Design measures to minimize undesirable environmental effects of mining and oil and gas operations
  • Perform clerical duties, such as maintain filing and record systems
  • Prepare rock, mineral or metal samples
  • Assist in hydrogeological field and laboratory studies
  • Perform data entry
  • Assist in conducting field research and surveys to collect data and samples
  • Monitor air, water and soil quality
  • Conduct or assist in environmental monitoring and protection activities
  • Conduct or assist in air and water quality testing
Requirements:
  • Certification by a provincial or territorial association
  • MS Office
  • Mapping and surveying
  • Geological sampling analysis
  • Geochemical sampling analysis
  • Mineralogy techniques
  • Microscopy
  • Data interpretation and evaluation
  • Development of methods and techniques
  • Environmental monitoring
  • Field sampling and data acquisition
  • Laboratory analysis
  • Quality assurance and control
  • Scientific data processing
  • Mineral resources and/or mining
  • Specialized environmental skills and knowledge
  • Mining and mining engineering
  • Environment or pollution control
  • Basic security clearance
  • Criminal record check
  • Willing to travel
