Job Summary:New Gold Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Geological Technologist to join our team. As a Geological Technologist, you will be responsible for conducting environmental audits, designing measures to minimize undesirable environmental effects of mining and oil and gas operations, and performing physical and chemical laboratory tests.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct environmental audits to identify potential environmental risks and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Design measures to minimize undesirable environmental effects of mining and oil and gas operations, including the development of environmental management plans.
- Perform physical and chemical laboratory tests to analyze rock, mineral, and metal samples.
- Assist in hydrogeological field and laboratory studies to understand the movement of groundwater and its interaction with the environment.
- Monitor air, water, and soil quality to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Conduct or assist in environmental monitoring and protection activities, including the collection and analysis of environmental data.
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as geology, environmental science, or a related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in environmental monitoring and protection.
- Strong knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
