Toronto, Ontario, Canada Odgers Berndtson Full time

About the Organization

The Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) serves as the principal national non-profit professional body representing naturopathic practitioners throughout Canada. Established in 1955, CAND comprises a membership of over 2,900 naturopathic doctors and students enrolled in accredited four-year, post-graduate naturopathic medical programs. The association advocates at the federal level for the naturopathic profession and champions research and regulation among healthcare professionals to ensure public safety. Additionally, CAND educates the public regarding the training and qualifications of naturopathic doctors, as well as the advantages of naturopathic medicine for individuals, corporations, insurance entities, and the Federal government.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is tasked with steering the organization’s growth and ensuring that CAND effectively represents and delivers value to its members and the profession at large. This role encompasses oversight of membership engagement and expansion, partnership development, government relations, event management, and the strategic direction of the organization. The Executive Director will also be responsible for the efficient operation of the organization, which includes financial oversight and human resource management. As CAND continues to evolve, the Executive Director will play a pivotal role in fostering organizational culture and will lead a small, dedicated team.

Candidate Profile

CAND is in search of a service-oriented leader who embodies collaboration and approachability. With a solid understanding of the healthcare landscape and the role of an association in advocating for its members, the ideal candidate will have a proven ability to forge and nurture productive relationships with government officials and key stakeholders. A history of working with tact and diplomacy to realize a shared vision is essential, alongside a strong appreciation for a professional member-focused association. The candidate should possess a successful track record in senior leadership roles, particularly in strategic planning and collaboration with Boards and Committees. Experience in a smaller organization is advantageous, as the candidate should be comfortable engaging directly with the management responsibilities inherent in a non-profit setting. The Executive Director will be enthusiastic about the opportunity to enhance CAND's recognition as a vital stakeholder with the Federal government and to elevate awareness of CAND's contributions on a national scale.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment

The Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors is an equal opportunity employer. In alignment with the Accessible Canada Act, 2019, and relevant provincial accessibility standards, accommodations will be provided upon request throughout the recruitment and selection process for applicants with disabilities. Odgers Berndtson is deeply committed to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all facets of our work.
