About the Organization

The Canadian Association of Naturopathic Doctors (CAND) serves as the national non-profit professional organization representing naturopathic practitioners throughout Canada. Established in 1955, CAND comprises over 2,900 members, including licensed naturopathic doctors and students enrolled in accredited naturopathic medical programs. The association advocates at the federal level for the naturopathic profession and promotes research, as well as the regulation of healthcare professionals to ensure public safety. CAND also works to inform the public about the education and training of naturopathic doctors and the advantages of naturopathic medicine.

Position Overview

Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director is responsible for steering the organization's growth and ensuring that CAND effectively represents and delivers value to its members and the broader profession. Key responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing membership engagement and growth initiatives.
  • Building partnerships and managing government relations.
  • Coordinating events and strategic leadership efforts.
  • Ensuring the efficient operation of the organization, including financial oversight and human resource management.

As CAND expands, the Executive Director will play a pivotal role in fostering a positive organizational culture and will lead a dedicated team.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a service-oriented leader who values collaboration and approachability. With a solid understanding of the healthcare landscape and the role of an association in advocating for its members, you possess a proven ability to cultivate productive relationships with government entities and key stakeholders. Your experience reflects a track record of working with diplomacy and tact to achieve shared goals, alongside a strong appreciation for member-focused organizations.

Furthermore, you have demonstrated success in senior leadership roles, particularly in strategic planning and collaboration with Boards and Committees. Your background in smaller organizations has equipped you with hands-on experience in managing non-profit operations. You are enthusiastic about the opportunity to elevate CAND's profile as a recognized stakeholder in the federal landscape and to enhance awareness of the association's value across the nation.
