About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Welder to join our team at D&R Custom Steel Inc. as a Fabrication Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for interpreting welding process specifications, operating manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, and ensuring that welds meet standards and specifications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Welding and Fabrication
    • Interpret welding process specifications and blueprints
    • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment, including arc welding machines and spot welding machines
    • Examine welds to ensure they meet standards and specifications
  • Maintenance and Repair
    • Maintain and perform minor repairs on welding equipment
    • Start up, shut down, adjust, and monitor robotic welding production lines
  • Material Handling
    • Handle and move heavy loads, up to 23 kg (50 lbs)
    • Operate hoisting and lifting equipment
  • Quality Control
    • Examine welds and ensure they meet standards and specifications
    • Perform quality control checks on welds
  • Teamwork and Communication
    • Work effectively in a team environment
    • Communicate effectively with colleagues and supervisors
Requirements
  • Education and Certifications
    • Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience
    • Technical Standards Safety Authority (TSSA) Certification
    • First Aid Certificate
    • CPR Certificate
    • Pressure Welding Certification
    • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) Certificate
    • Welder Trade Red Seal Certificate
  • Skills and Experience
    • Experience in welding and fabrication, preferably in an industrial setting
    • Knowledge of welding processes, including resistance, spot, and seam welding
    • Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces, and in a fast-paced environment
    • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
