Overview of Your Future Role at BBA Consultants
At BBA Consultants, the Thunder Bay office will host a variety of multidisciplinary teams that support the project lifecycle in the power, mining, and metals industries, collaborating with personnel from other BBA locations. Our teams are committed to delivering exceptional services that meet client expectations, ranging from environmental assessments, mining, geological, and process studies to detailed engineering, project management, and start-up services.

In alignment with the firm's strategic objectives, you will be tasked with formulating a plan that outlines the strategic and operational goals for the Thunder Bay office and ensuring its execution. As the director, you will have the unique opportunity to lead, engage, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team with a vision to expand to over 15 professionals in the near future. Additionally, you will oversee the establishment of the firm's operations and manage the human and financial resources of the Thunder Bay office. This pivotal role reports directly to the regional executive.

Key Responsibilities
Specific Responsibilities:

Facilitate the opening and establishment of a new BBA office in Thunder Bay. Collaborate with the regional executive to refine and enhance the Thunder Bay business plan in accordance with your expertise. Ensure accountability for the execution of the business plan. Attract, recruit, and train top talent that aligns with the business strategy. Cultivate business relationships with local clients.

General Responsibilities:

Translate overarching strategies into specific operational objectives and actionable plans. Prepare annual budget forecasts for the office. Evaluate the achievement of objectives based on key performance indicators. Manage operational risks by reviewing all projects. Implement contractual strategies that align with the firm's strategic directives. Ensure compliance with the highest standards of occupational health and safety. Oversee the development of employee technical knowledge and skills. Achieve collaboration objectives with other offices, teams, and departments at both regional and national levels. Ensure adherence to BBA's quality standards in policies, operational processes, and engineering practices. Collaborate with discipline leads and department managers to communicate key operational parameters and provide coaching and accountability for assigned tasks. Provide leadership in project, technical, or business development activities approximately 30% of the time. Supervise the procurement of goods and services and office space leases in conjunction with Corporate Services management. Act as an ambassador for the firm's values, promoting them and leading by example. Encourage innovation and seek creative solutions to enhance business practices.

Overview of Certifications and Job Requirements

University degree in engineering or a relevant program of study. Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a consulting engineering firm. Experience with profit and loss responsibilities. Knowledge of the mining and metals sector or the power sector. Extensive network of contacts in the power and/or mining and metals sectors. Comprehensive understanding of multidisciplinary engineering. Proven experience in team engagement and management. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative management skills. Interest and experience in business development. Experience in organizational development and managing multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Asset: Knowledge of French. Asset: Knowledge of Spanish.
