At BBA's Thunder Bay office, you will be part of diverse multidisciplinary teams that support the project lifecycle in the power, mining, and metals industries, collaborating with professionals from other BBA locations. In alignment with the firm's strategic objectives, you will be tasked with formulating a plan that outlines the strategic and operational goals for the Thunder Bay office, ensuring its successful execution. As the director, you will have the unique opportunity to lead, engage, and nurture a multidisciplinary engineering team, with a vision to expand to over 15 professionals in the near future. Additionally, you will oversee the development of the firm's operations and manage the human and financial resources of the Thunder Bay office, reporting directly to the regional executive.

Key Responsibilities

Specific Responsibilities:

Establish and launch a new BBA office in Thunder Bay. Collaborate with the regional executive to refine and enhance the Thunder Bay business plan. Ensure accountability for the execution of the business plan. Attract, recruit, and develop top talent that aligns with the strategic vision. Cultivate business relationships with local clients.

General Responsibilities:

Translate overarching strategies into specific operational objectives and actionable plans. Prepare annual budget forecasts for the office. Evaluate the achievement of objectives using key performance indicators. Mitigate operational risks by reviewing all projects. Implement contractual strategies aligned with the firm's strategic directives. Uphold the highest standards of occupational health and safety in accordance with firm expectations. Foster the development of employee technical knowledge and skills. Ensure collaboration objectives are met with other offices, teams, and departments, both regionally and nationally. Ensure adherence to policies, operational processes, and engineering practices that align with BBA's quality standards. Collaborate with discipline leads and department managers to communicate key operational parameters, provide coaching, and hold them accountable for their responsibilities. Provide leadership in project, technical, or business development activities approximately 30% of the time. Oversee procurement of goods and services and office space leases in conjunction with Corporate Services management. Act as an ambassador for the firm's values, promoting them and leading by example. Encourage innovation and creative solutions to enhance business practices.

Overview of Certifications and Job Requirements

University degree in engineering or a relevant program. Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience, with at least 5 years in a consulting engineering environment. Experience with profit and loss responsibilities. Knowledge of the mining and metals sector or the power sector. Extensive network of contacts in the power and/or mining and metals industries. Comprehensive understanding of multidisciplinary engineering. Proven experience in team engagement and management. Excellent interpersonal and collaborative management skills. Interest and experience in business development. Experience in organizational development and managing multidisciplinary teams. Proficiency in English, both written and spoken. Asset: Knowledge of French. Asset: Knowledge of Spanish.
