About the Role

Hitachi Energy Canada Inc. is seeking a skilled Harmonic Analysis Engineer to join our HVDC team in Montreal. As a key member of our Harmonic Analysis group, you will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements and analyzing their feasibility, performing harmonics studies, and supporting high voltage equipment definition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret customer requirements and analyze their feasibility for harmonics studies
  • Perform harmonics studies and support high voltage equipment definition
  • Collaborate with project groups to ensure successful project delivery
  • Evaluate harmonic power quality requirements and propose mitigation measures as needed
  • Develop small tools to effectively analyze and process large amounts of data
  • Participate in negotiations and present challenges to customers or suppliers
  • Write clear technical reports describing complex study work
  • Participate in conferences and standardization work groups
  • Conduct compliance measurements during commissioning

Requirements

  • Professional Engineering degree in Electric Power Engineering or similar
  • 2+ years of experience with harmonics analysis and studies on high voltage substations
  • Ability to model and analyze electrical circuits in frequency-domain
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Experience with EMT tools like PSCAD and programming experience in MATLAB is an asset
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is required
  • French speaking is an asset
