Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Technical Specialist to join our team at Definity. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading Financial Condition Testing (FCT) and other capital modeling initiatives, as well as supporting risk management activities related to catastrophes and climate change.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement Financial Condition Testing processes, including stress scenario development, model enhancements, and result interpretation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to set capital targets and support risk management initiatives.
  • Conduct catastrophe modeling, aggregation/concentration monitoring, and climate change impact assessments from a capital and risk management perspective.
  • Assist in strategic goal achievement, including M&A activity, catastrophe risk management, and business viability assessments.
  • Work collaboratively with Actuarial teams and external partners to solve complex problems and provide recommendations to management.
  • Identify opportunities for process efficiencies and recommend changes.
  • Support leadership in coaching and counseling junior team members.
Requirements
  • University degree in Actuarial Sciences, Mathematics, or Statistics.
  • Completed a minimum of 5 exams of the Casualty Actuarial Society or equivalent credentials.
  • At least 5 years of full-time actuarial experience in the insurance industry.
  • Knowledge of capital modeling, FCT, and IFRS 17 is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Results-driven mindset with a focus on driving business performance.
  • Proficiency in actuarial software and programming languages (Excel, VBA, SQL, etc.).
  • Strong communication and presentation abilities to convey complex concepts.
