We are currently in search of a 3rd Class Engineering Officer to oversee the efficient operation of the tugboat's machinery, which includes managing the start-up and shut-down processes for main engines and auxiliary generators.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the operation of all machinery across the fleet;
  • Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with established procedures;
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance tasks in the engine room and on all equipment onboard;
  • Ensure the optimal performance of all onboard equipment;
  • Disassemble, repair, and reinstall components related to main and auxiliary diesel engines, hydraulic systems, water pumps, and electrical systems;
  • Interpret and analyze ship drawings, including hull designs, piping diagrams, and electrical schematics;
  • Engage in activities aligned with the health, safety, and environmental management protocols.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Possession of a Canadian 3rd Class Marine Engineer Certificate (motor vessel);
  • Certification in Level II Simulator Training for Propulsion Systems;
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience at sea in a mechanical role;
  • Valid marine medical certification;
  • Possession of relevant skills certificates: STCW-BS Basic Safety, Boat Launching and Rescue Boat Operation (excluding Fast Rescue Boats), Advanced Firefighting Techniques (required for voyages beyond the gulf);
  • Extensive knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems;
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 applications;
  • Demonstrated responsibility, independence, teamwork, and punctuality;
  • Bilingual proficiency in French and English, both oral and written (an asset).
