Marine Engineering Officer

Are you ready to make a significant impact in a leading maritime company? We are currently in search of a dedicated 3rd Class Engineering Officer to oversee the effective operation of our tugboat's machinery. This role is essential for maintaining the performance and reliability of our fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and operate all machinery aboard the vessels in our fleet.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with established protocols and standards.
  • Perform repairs and maintenance tasks within the engine room and on all equipment onboard.
  • Ensure all equipment functions optimally while at sea.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reinstall components related to main and auxiliary diesel engines, hydraulic systems, water pumps, and electrical installations.
  • Interpret and analyze ship drawings, including hull designs, piping layouts, and electrical schematics.
  • Engage in activities aligned with our health, safety, and environmental management practices.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of a Canadian 3rd Class Marine Engineer Certificate (motor vessel).
  • Completion of Level II Simulator Training Certification for Propulsion Systems.
  • A minimum of three to five years of experience at sea in a mechanical capacity.
  • Valid marine medical certification.
  • Certification in STCW-BS Basic Safety, Boat Launching and Rescue Boat Operations (excluding Fast Rescue Boats), and Advanced Firefighting Techniques (required for voyages beyond the gulf).
  • In-depth knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Demonstrated responsibility, independence, teamwork motivation, and punctuality.
  • Bilingual in French and English, both spoken and written (preferred).
