Océan is a leading enterprise in the maritime industry, seeking a skilled Officer Mechanic to join our team.

Job Summary

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Officer Mechanic to ensure the smooth operation of our vessels' machinery, including procedures for starting and stopping main engines and auxiliary generators. The successful candidate will work at the port of Trois-Rivières.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate all machinery on our fleet of vessels;
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to procedures and guidelines;
  • Carry out repairs and maintenance of the engine room and all equipment on board;
  • Ensure the proper functioning of equipment on board;
  • Dismantle, repair, and reinstall equipment related to main diesel engines, auxiliary diesel engines, hydraulic distributors, water pumps, and onboard electrical systems;
  • Read and understand ship diagrams (hull, piping diagrams, machines, and electrical schematics);
  • Participate in and support activities related to the health, safety, and environmental management system.

Requirements

  • Canadian Officer Mechanic 3rd Class certification (motor vessel);
  • Level II Simulator Training Device certification;
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years of experience at sea as a mechanic;
  • Valid Marine Medical Certificate;
  • STCW-BS Basic Safety Training certificate;
  • Survival Craft and Rescue Boat Operations certificate;
  • Advanced Firefighting Techniques certificate;
  • Good knowledge of diesel mechanics and hydraulic systems;
  • Ability to analyze problems and troubleshoot;
  • Proficiency in working on a computer in a Microsoft 365 environment;
  • Responsible, autonomous, motivated by teamwork, and punctual;
  • Bilingualism in French and English, both orally and in writing (asset).
