We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Psychologist to join our team at the East Coast Forensic Hospital. As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to provide assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy services to patients.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in clinical psychology and experience working in a forensic inpatient setting. You will be responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments of violence risk, personality, and cognitive skills, as well as providing treatment through individual and group settings.
Additionally, you will participate in the predoctoral internship program and supervise practicum students. Your expertise will also be required in providing testimony before the Criminal Code Review Board of Nova Scotia and expert witness testimony.
About YouWe are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications:
- Recognized MSc in Clinical Psychology from an accredited university program
- Registered or eligible for registration with the NSBEP
- A minimum of two years relevant clinical experience is preferred
- Preference will be given to those individuals with violence risk assessment training/experience (including the VRAG-R; PCL-R-2; HCR-20-V3; and START)
- Formal training and clinical experience in conducting psychological and cognitive assessment and consultation
- The successful candidate will also demonstrate maturity and a capacity to work effectively with resistant and sometimes challenging client groups
- Self-directed in practice with an ability to work independently and as an effective member of a multidisciplinary team while dealing with challenging clinical situations and crises
- Demonstrated ability and expertise in developing and presenting education programs to healthcare professionals and community organizations
- Experience with the provision of clinical supervision to students from psychology and other mental health disciplines, and willingness to incorporate such responsibilities into work routine
- Competencies in other languages is an asset, French preferred
This is a permanent, full-time position with 75 hours bi-weekly. Free parking is available on site.
Compensation and IncentivesThe successful candidate will be offered a competitive salary of $49.05 per hour. Additionally, they may be eligible for our benefits package, which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
