Avionics Systems Designer

CMC Électronique is a leading provider of innovative avionics solutions for the civil and military aviation markets. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join our team of experts in the design and development of advanced electronic systems.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement DO-254 compliant airborne electronic hardware (AEH) designs, including functional allocation, design, simulation, synthesis, place & route, test planning, verification, and introduction to production.
- Design state-of-the-art digital hardware utilizing technologies including processor and DSP interfaces, video signal processing, I/O blocks, and standard logic.
- Support the architecture, design, and development of printed circuit boards (PCBs) for prototype and implementation of complex digital systems in FPGA or ASIC.
- Participate in program bids and proposals, estimate generation, and project planning.
- Provide project oversight and tracking of AEH activities for a team of developers and verifiers, including task assignments, deliverable planning, as well as budget and risk management.
- Serve as a primary interface with other design groups to ensure alignment across design and schedule milestones.
- Utilize CMC development process and participate in design reviews for key characteristics of performance as well as safety/reliability, test, and manufacturability.
- Analyze functional requirements for systems and/or sub-systems and participate in the definition of FPGA functional and performance requirements.
- Develop simulation verification test benches, verification components, and bus-functional models in SystemVerilog, using standardized verification methodologies such as UVM.
- Develop and implement on-target test environments.
- Develop, document, and execute test procedures, and write test reports.
- Provide documentation for requirements, design descriptions, tests, and production support.
- Support management, manufacturing, and other engineering disciplines in various planning or problem-solving tasks.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or equivalent).
- Experience providing mentorship and technical oversight of more junior team members.
- Experience in project estimating, planning, tracking, and team oversight.
- Assets:
- Experience with Xilinx's FPGA (7 Series, Ultrascale) and design tool (Vivado).
- Test automation experience with scripting languages similar to Python.
- Knowledge of civil and military aviation standards such as process development standard DO-254 and qualification standards DO-160 and MIL-STD-810/461.
