Sprott Shaw College is in search of a dedicated Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) to support the development of young learners. The successful candidate should demonstrate the ability to manage multiple tasks, communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and children, and possess the initiative to address challenges independently.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collaborate with fellow childcare professionals to design, implement, and deliver a licensed preschool program that fosters safe, healthy, and positive interactions while embracing diversity and learning opportunities.

• Facilitate engaging activities across various program areas including arts & crafts, dramatic play, music appreciation, science exploration, and physical activities.

• Maintain a balanced schedule of active and passive activities in both indoor and outdoor settings.

• Integrate physical literacy and fundamental movement skills into daily routines.

• Build and sustain effective and positive relationships with parents, children, and staff at all times.

• Address minor issues independently while consulting with supervisors regarding any concerns or recommendations.

• Ensure that toys and equipment meet safety and hygiene standards.

• Organize and maintain necessary equipment, materials, and supplies.

• Set up and clean activity areas, ensuring the safety and well-being of children at all times.

• Adhere to all policies, procedures, and standards set forth by relevant health authorities and the organization.

• Perform additional related duties as required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• A valid Early Childhood Educator Assistant (ECEA) certificate is mandatory.

• Candidates must be at least 19 years of age.

• A minimum of 180 hours of direct experience in planning and executing programs for preschool-aged children in a licensed childcare or educational setting is required.

• Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work independently, and as part of a collaborative team.

• An outgoing and energetic demeanor is essential.

• Capability to create a safe and nurturing environment for children.

• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, and public relations skills are necessary.

• Experience and knowledge in areas such as physical literacy, arts & crafts, and drama are required.

• A current First Aid and CPR C certification is required.
