Cultural Heritage Specialist / Lead - Environmental Engineering

Egis is a leading environmental engineering firm with a strong presence in North America. We are seeking a highly skilled Cultural Heritage Specialist/Lead to join our team and contribute to our growth in this exciting field.

About the Role:

We are looking for a motivated and experienced professional to lead our Cultural Heritage group and support our growing team. As a Cultural Heritage Specialist/Lead, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on heritage-related matters, including historic property research, built heritage surveys, and cultural landscape surveys.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the growth of the Cultural Heritage group through key hires, new clients, and business development;
  • Prepare and finalize cultural heritage reports, including CHR/CHARs, CHERs, and HIAs;
  • Manage projects, including bidding, proposal preparation, invoicing, and client management;
  • Engage in business development and promote Egis' Cultural Heritage services;
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote and educate about Cultural Heritage services;
  • Maintain positive client relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree/diploma in heritage planning, heritage conservation, or a related field;
  • 5-10 years of experience in Cultural Heritage, including membership with the Canadian Association of Heritage Professionals (CAHP) and qualification as a cultural heritage professional;
  • Proven experience in writing winning proposals and executing on those projects;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of international, federal, and provincial heritage legislation and best practices;
  • Experience providing advice and guidance for heritage-related matters for various stakeholders;
  • Experience completing historic property research, built heritage surveys, cultural landscape surveys, and heritage inventory;
  • Experience writing and completing heritage reports, including CHR/CHARs, CHERs, and HIAs;
  • Experience with municipal heritage planning processes, including heritage permit applications and working with property owners and municipal heritage committees;
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write and review heritage reports;
  • Experience using computer software, including Microsoft Office and Excel.
