About the Role:

Sinai Health is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our team in the Department of Psychiatry at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide clinical care to adults facing a broad range of mental health challenges, including acute and chronic medical illness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide clinical care that facilitates integrated care and supports recovery for clients with complex mental health needs.
  • Triage, complete mental health assessments, formulate and develop treatment plans, and provide resource navigation and psychosocial interventions.
  • Provide individual and group treatments in various modalities, including therapy and support groups.
  • Assist with resource navigation and linkage with community mental health services to support transition and ongoing care.
  • Foster community engagement with external partners and agencies to promote collaborative care.
  • Adapt approach to meet the demands and needs of constantly changing conditions, situations, and people.
  • Promote and support a trauma-focused, equity-centred client care approach.
  • Contribute to program development, provide education and support to learners of all disciplines, and perform other duties consistent with the job classification.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a health-related discipline, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or related clinical discipline.
  • Registration and current membership in good standing with a relevant regulatory college.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a mental health setting, with preference for experience in working with people living with HIV, the medical psychiatry patient population, and an outpatient mental health setting.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic interventions targeting mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and motivation for change through both individual and group modalities.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention skills, support for addiction issues, interventions for severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, inter-professional environment.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act, and PHIPA requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment, identify opportunities for continuous process improvement, and demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance.
