Job Title: Mental Health Clinician

About the Role:

Sinai Health is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Clinician to join our team at the Mount Sinai Hospital Campus. As a key member of our inter-professional team, you will provide clinical care to adults facing mental health challenges, working collaboratively with clients, their social networks, and community agencies to support recovery and integrated care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and provide clinical care to clients, facilitating integrated care and supporting recovery for adults with mental health challenges and acute/chronic medical illness.
  • Triage, complete mental health assessments, formulate treatment plans, provide resource navigation, and psychosocial interventions with ongoing collaboration and communication with the inter-professional team and client's social network.
  • Provide individual and group treatments in various modalities, adapting approach to meet changing conditions, situations, and people.
  • Assist with resource navigation and linkage with community mental health services to support transition and ongoing care.
  • Facilitate and maintain community engagement with external partners and agencies.
  • Promote and support a trauma-focused, equity-centred client care approach.
  • Ongoing clinical documentation and contribution to program development, education, and support to learners of all disciplines.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in a health-related discipline, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy, or related clinical discipline, or Bachelors of Nursing.
  • Registration and current membership in good standing with a relevant regulatory college.
  • Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a mental health setting, with preference for experience in working with people living with HIV, medical psychiatry patient population, and outpatient mental health setting.
  • Familiarity with therapeutic interventions targeting mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use, and motivation for change through individual and group modalities.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention skills, support for addiction issues, interventions for severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, time management, and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, inter-professional environment.
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, Substitute Decisions Act, Health Care Consent Act, and PHIPA requirements.
  • Ability to adapt to changing work environment, identify opportunities for continuous process improvement, and demonstrate satisfactory work performance and attendance.
