Job Title: Mental Health Clinician
Sinai Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Clinician to support our Medical Psychiatry Clinic and Clinic for HIV-Related Concerns within our Outpatient Program in the Department of Psychiatry at our Mount Sinai Hospital Campus.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and provide clinical care for clients that facilitates integrated care and supports recovery for adults facing a broad range of mental health challenges together with acute and chronic medical illness.
- Ability to triage, complete mental health assessments, formulate and develop treatment plans, provide resource navigation and psychosocial interventions with ongoing collaboration and communication with the inter-professional team and with the client's social network and community circle of care.
- Ability to provide both individual and group treatments in various modalities.
- Assist with resource navigation and linkage with community mental health services to support transition and ongoing care.
- Facilitate and maintain community engagement with relevant external partners and agencies.
- Adapt approach to meet the demands and needs of constantly changing conditions, situations and people.
- Promote and support a trauma-focused, equity-centred client care approach.
- Ongoing clinical documentation.
- Contribute to program development, provide education and support to learners of all disciplines.
- Performs other duties consistent with the job classification, as required.
Requirements:
- Successful completion of Master's degree in a health-related discipline, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy or related clinical discipline, or Bachelors of Nursing.
- Registration and current membership in good standing with a relevant regulatory college.
- Minimum 3 years relevant work experience in a mental health setting with preference for experience in working with people living with HIV, the medical psychiatry patient population and an outpatient mental health setting.
- Familiarity with therapeutic interventions targeting mood, anxiety, trauma, substance use and motivation for change through both individual and group modalities.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, crisis intervention skills, support for addiction issues, interventions for severe and persistent mental illness.
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communication, time management and interpersonal skills, along with ability to work effectively as a team member in a dynamic, inter-professional environment.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Mental Health Act, the Substitute Decisions Act, the Health Care Consent Act and PHIPA requirements.
- Ability to adapt to changing work environment.
- Proactively identify opportunities for and make continuous process improvement to prevent harm and improve client outcomes.
- Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance.
- Demonstrated commitment to collaborative practice.
- Ability to work effectively, both independently and together with the team under high pressure conditions.
- Strong decision making, problem recognition, problem solving skills and conflict resolution skills.
