Course Details
The course, CHYS 4P05: Childhood, Art, and Aesthetic Expression, will be offered in the upcoming term.
Compensation Structure
Compensation for this position is structured as follows:
- $7,000 per half course (195 hours nominally)
- $14,000 per full course (390 hours nominally)
Please note that instructors involved in a 2-hour/week lecture are expected to manage the first hour of seminar/lab for each course.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities will align with the stipulations outlined in the Collective Agreement. Key duties include:
- Scheduled contact time with students
- Preparation of lectures
- Student consultations
- Marking and grading
- Course administration, including handling grade appeals and academic integrity cases
Qualifications
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- A PhD in Child and Youth Studies or a related field (such as art/aesthetics, sound studies, cultural studies, or Equity Studies). Senior doctoral candidates may be considered if no qualified applicants are available.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching critical perspectives on aesthetics, culture, and theory.
- Prior teaching and/or research experience focusing on childhood arts, encompassing film, literature, sound/music, and visual arts as a transdisciplinary topic.
- Evidence of effective teaching experience at the undergraduate level, supported by letters of reference and course evaluations.
