Job Title: Foster Care Support WorkerAbout the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Foster Care Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Foster Care Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting foster families and children in care to achieve their goals and thrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct regular monitoring visits to foster homes to ensure the well-being and safety of children in care.
  • Collaborate with case management teams to develop and implement comprehensive transition plans for children transitioning from foster care to independence.
  • Provide training and support to foster families on competency-based training and professional development.
  • Develop and implement goal-based service plans with input from youth and families, ensuring accurate client file management and timely documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with CARF/COA accreditation standards and legislated requirements.
  • Connect children and families with support networks, outside agencies, and community resources.
  • Provide crisis intervention services and emergency response planning as needed.
  • Utilize standardized assessment and monitoring instruments to ensure continuity of procedures and consistency in follow-up.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary case management meetings and quality improvement committees.
Requirements
  • 2+ years of experience in case management, working with foster families.
  • College diploma in Social Work or Human Services field.
  • Familiarity with accreditation standards for monitoring Foster Homes and Child in Care programs.
  • Preference for completion of the SAFE home study course or willingness to complete within probation period.
Additional Requirements
  • Valid CPR/First Aid certificate.
  • Valid Non-Violent Physical Crisis Intervention Certificate (MANDT) and Conflict Resolution Certificate.
