About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled AWS Cloud Engineer to join our team at State Street. As a key member of our AWS Platform engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and implementing best-in-class AWS infrastructure to support our security, governance, and workload requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and build robust, scalable, and secure technical solutions on the AWS Cloud
  • Work with platform architects to define component responsibilities, plan component evolution, and ensure components meet platform needs
  • Be responsible for AWS network engineering and support
  • Develop scripts to automate deployment and management
  • Utilize native AWS services to meet technology and resiliency requirements
  • Drive identity and access and configuration management, and monitoring strategy for AWS
  • Support operational activity to ensure quality and timely delivery of service to cloud tenants
  • Create automation scripts for all phases of SDLC
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues reported by monitoring systems and submitted through the ticketing system of fully documented issues, actions taken, and steps for resolution
  • Perform other tasks as defined, planned, and approved by team lead
  • Partner with enterprise network team to ensure cloud to on-premise networks are resilient and high performing
  • Serve in an on-call rotation one week out of the month, covering a 6:00 am to 6:00 pm shift in case of major incidents needing support
Requirements
  • Solid working experience on AWS IAAS for enterprise enablement
  • Automation-focused and engineering mindset
  • Network engineering skills
  • Experience with design and development of solutions across on-prem and the cloud for large enterprises
  • Strong understanding of cloud-native design patterns and DevOps principles (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Openness and ability to learn new skills and technologies in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and passionate individual Team player; ability to effectively communicate ideas and escalate issues across teams in a timely manner
Education and Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in any engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of IT experience in a hands-on role with 3+ years of experience designing and supporting AWS environments
  • Understanding of Agile delivery process is required
  • Experience in developing business applications in Java/J2EE, CICD, SDLC tools/Processes
  • Deep understanding of AWS IAAS, PAAS, and SAAS solutions along with cloud-native design patterns and DevOps principles (Infrastructure as Code)
  • Appropriate certifications are strongly preferred, demonstrating an understanding of core infrastructure concepts as well as data and/or DevOps principles
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing technologies with demonstrated hands-on experience in one or more of the following domains: Core IaaS: Compute, Storage, Networking, High Availability; AWS PaaS Services: AWS Kubernetes Service, Event Hub, etc.
  • Strong programming and scripting background in languages such as shell scripts, Python, Java, etc.
  • Experience in designing, coding, and deploying Cloud formation templates
  • Ability to develop and document deliverables compliant with established company design control and regulatory statutes
  • Experience with AWS Governance and Best Practices (AWS Policy, Role-Based Access Control, Networking Architectures, CSA's CCM, Cost Management controls, etc.)
  • Working proficiency and communication skills in verbal and written English
  • Authentication Protocols in AWS, Windows, and Linux
  • SSL communication
  • Automated unit and integration testing
  • Financial services or regulated industry experience a huge plus
