As a Business Development Director at Scotiabank, you will be responsible for managing a defined territory to generate sales and develop new business opportunities. You will lead by establishing long-lasting relationships with clients, servicing existing ones, and prospecting for new ones.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing a defined territory to generate sales and develop new business opportunities
  • Establishing and maintaining long-lasting relationships with clients
  • Developing and implementing a strategic business plan to increase sales from advisors within the territory
  • Segmenting the client base to define service levels and ensure sales from various distribution channels and firms
  • Maintaining and servicing client relationships through territory rotations to increase sales and diversify product usage
  • Submitting expenses and maintaining the overall budget for the region
  • Data mining using the Diagnostic Selling Process and populating the CRM system with information retrieved during meetings
  • Responding to client inquiries and following up on leads from the ISR
  • Generating and developing new business relationships
  • Mentoring the ISR through continuous coaching and feedback

Requirements include:

  • Minimum bachelor's degree in a field such as commerce, finance, or business administration
  • Bilingual (FRE/ENG) language proficiency
  • Record of progression into roles with increasing responsibility within the financial services industry
  • Minimum 5+ years of sales experience
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience managing a territory
  • Completion of CSC and/or IFIC certification
  • Individual contributor who excels in a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of MS Office (i.e. Excel, Word & Outlook)
  • Experience working with Customer Relationship Management systems
  • Detail-oriented with strong time-management skills
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills
  • Ability to keep up-to-date on past, current, and future trends in the financial services industry
  • Pro-active, self-starter with the ability to use their initiative in maximizing sales
  • Ability to travel extensively
