Job Overview:

The Manager of Financial Crime Risk Management, focusing on Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Risk Controls, is a key role within TD Bank Group's Global Anti-Money Laundering Department. Reporting directly to the Associate Vice-President, this position is responsible for ensuring compliance with privacy regulations and fostering a culture of privacy adherence within the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for privacy risk management within AML and act as the designated Privacy Officer.
  • Supervise the execution and approval of all privacy impact assessments.
  • Manage risk mitigation strategies and reporting for any privacy incidents or breaches within AML.
  • Act as the escalation point for privacy-related concerns.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of applicable privacy laws and regulations relevant to AML.
  • Facilitate communication between AML, business units, legal teams, and the Privacy Office.
  • Support the implementation of the AML Privacy Program by developing policies, standards, and procedures that align with enterprise requirements.
  • Provide expertise on privacy matters related to AML services and initiatives.
  • Stay informed about changes in legislation and regulatory expectations affecting AML.
  • Identify and escalate privacy issues and risks to the Privacy Office.
  • Participate in privacy forums and related meetings.
  • Develop and deliver reports for AML leadership and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Lead and mentor the team, providing ongoing coaching, guidance, and training to promote professional development.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • At least five (5) years of experience in the financial services sector, including a minimum of three (3) years in AML/Sanctions compliance.
  • Background in Privacy and Compliance with an emphasis on employee privacy.
  • Strong understanding of Information Technology and Data Privacy principles.
  • Ability to guide stakeholders through the Privacy Impact Assessment process.
  • Comfortable challenging stakeholders regarding privacy controls.
  • Proven ability to lead process improvements involving diverse stakeholders across various functions.
  • Competence in risk assessment and articulating solutions effectively.
  • Excellent time management skills to handle multiple priorities.
  • Capability to escalate issues effectively to manage risks.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills; adept at synthesizing data and making informed recommendations.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) with experience in conducting presentations and drafting reports.
  • Experience in a Second Line compliance or risk management role is advantageous.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently, think critically, and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly MS Excel; knowledge of Access databases is a plus.
  • Undergraduate degree; ACAMS certification is a plus.
