WJS Canada is seeking dedicated and compassionate Casual Disability Service Workers to make a positive impact in the lives of individuals with developmental disabilities.

In this role, you will work closely with clients in residential or group home settings, empowering them to achieve their goals, enhance their independence, and actively participate in their communities.

  • Your Responsibilities:
  • Assist individuals with developmental disabilities in achieving their personal and community integration goals.
  • Provide personalized support tailored to individual service plans, encompassing areas such as personal care, housekeeping, companionship, skill development, budgeting, meal planning, and shopping.
  • Facilitate one-on-one or group interactions to promote social engagement and skill-building.
  • Encourage participation in community activities, including artistic, educational, recreational programs, and volunteer opportunities.
  • Connect clients with valuable community resources and employment support services, such as resume building and job search assistance.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Possess a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent in Disability Studies, Social Sciences, Human Services, or related fields.
  • Demonstrate at least two years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities. Specialized education and training are highly valued.
  • Hold a valid Alberta Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory Driver's Abstract, proof of insurability, and access to a reliable vehicle.
  • Be certified in First Aid/CPR, Restrictive Procedures, Abuse Protocols, and Non-Violent Crisis Prevention Intervention.
  • Embrace the principles of community-based living for individuals receiving services.
