Role Overview

As an Interconnection Manager, you will play a pivotal role in facilitating the connection of large-scale renewable energy projects to transmission utilities in Ontario. This position requires a proactive and personable individual who thrives in a collaborative environment while navigating regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the interconnection process for renewable projects, collaborating with internal teams and external consultants.
  • Establish and nurture relationships with the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) and transmission entities.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to manage documentation and plan revisions related to interconnections.
  • Oversee utility processes, including timelines, payments, and stakeholder relationships from project inception to operational status.
  • Engage in all communications with transmission entities and participate in relevant meetings.
  • Submit applications for interconnection studies and manage associated timelines.
  • Negotiate agreements with IESO and transmission companies.
  • Supervise budgets, scopes, and schedules for interconnection subcontractors.
  • Conduct site visits to assess interconnection facilities and address any issues.
  • Manage utility easements and encroachments for interconnection access.
  • Ensure compliance with telecommunication requirements for utility operations.
  • Facilitate the testing and commissioning of interconnection facilities.
  • Coordinate project close-out processes and transition to asset management teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience.
  • Experience in Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) processes.
  • Familiarity with project management software, such as MS Project.
  • Knowledge of power system software (e.g., Tara, PowerWorld, PSS/E) is advantageous.
  • Experience in Ontario's renewable energy landscape is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment and maintain respectful relationships.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and proficiency in using tools like Microsoft SharePoint and Teams.
