Business Continuity and Emergency Management Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Business Continuity and Emergency Management Planner to join our team at the City of Calgary. As a key member of our organization, you will play a critical role in developing, delivering, and maintaining a business continuity and emergency management program that aligns with industry best practices and corporate goals.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement business continuity and emergency management plans and procedures to ensure public safety, protection of property and the environment, and service reliability.
- Provide training and support to various partners on business continuity and emergency management principles and practices.
- Facilitate and lead orientations, drills, exercises, and incident after-action reviews to ensure effective response and recovery.
- Collaborate with other business units to ensure seamless integration and coordination of business continuity and emergency management efforts.
- Support the response to emergency incidents and business disruptions, providing guidance and expertise as needed.
- A degree in Business Continuity, Emergency Management, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 4 years of relevant experience in business continuity and emergency management, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of business continuity and emergency management principles, as well as Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint.
- Experience in developing and implementing emergency management and business continuity plans and procedures, and training design and delivery.
- Leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and ability to work in fast-paced, stressful environments.
This role requires the ability to work non-standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 coverage. A partial hybrid/telework option is available, but candidates must live within an approximate 1-hour commuting distance to the Calgary office.
