About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Media Relations Specialist to join our team at the Bank of Canada. As a key member of our Communications Department, you will play a central role in shaping the Bank's external communications and media relations strategy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement effective media relations strategies to promote the Bank's policy objectives and functions.
  • Provide strategic communications advice and services to senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Bank to develop and maintain constructive relationships with the media.
  • Plan, draft, and execute campaigns for the Bank's external social media platforms.
  • Respond to media inquiries and organize interview requests, press conferences, and other media activities.
Requirements
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in communications, economics, journalism, or a related field.
  • Five years of relevant experience in communications, media relations, or a related field.
  • Excellent digital communications skills, including preparing text and visual content for social media platforms.
  • Strong media relations experience, including dealing with journalists on sensitive files and issues.
  • Ability to plan and manage activities in an environment requiring co-operation, coordination, and flexibility to meet objectives.

Language Requirements

English and French are essential languages for this role, with a minimum starting level of functional (level 4) in the second official language. Training may be provided to help reach the required level of fully functional (level 5) in the second official language.

Security Clearance

Eligibility for a Secret security clearance is required for this role.
