Job Description

The Government of Saskatchewan is seeking a highly motivated individual to fill the role of Director of the Extended Benefits and Client Service Unit.

About the Role:

The Director will be responsible for leading the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Unit, driving excellence in achieving results. The Unit is responsible for processing drug, medical supply, and service claims, assessing coverage for patients, and responding to a large volume of program enquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of policies and programs to address the evolving needs of citizens and improve the health care system.
  • Oversee the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of the Unit, ensuring alignment with provincial and national initiatives.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with various stakeholders, including branches within the Ministry, service provider groups, Saskatchewan Health Authority, professional organizations, and others.
  • Develop and implement strategies to address complex risks and issues, and ensure the Unit's programs, services, and processes are aligned with various Acts, Regulations, Policies, and Procedures.
  • Provide leadership and oversight to a team of approximately 40+ staff and students, and ensure the Unit's programs and services are delivered in a timely and effective manner.

Requirements:

  • Post-graduate degree in business or public administration, health economics, or a related field.
  • Several years of senior experience in a comparable field, with a strong background in policy development, partnership management, and change management.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and leadership skills, with the ability to identify and analyze emerging issues and develop proactive strategies to address them.
  • Experience leading staff from diverse backgrounds, managing multiple priorities, and possessing knowledge of project management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a government or public sector environment.
  • Knowledge of the Saskatchewan health care system and provincial policies.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, service providers, and citizens.
