Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Business Partner will deliver comprehensive Human Resources support across all levels of the organization, particularly within the Alberta Markets Portfolio. This role is essential in aligning HR initiatives with business objectives and fostering a productive work environment. Collaborating closely with HR Managers, the HR Business Partner will engage in performance management, employee relations, training and development, labor relations, recruitment, and strategic business partnerships. This dynamic position emphasizes providing strategic consultation on employment-related matters while developing and implementing effective HR programs and policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Recruitment & Selection:
- Collaborate with the HR Manager and business leaders to define role requirements, advise on existing job specifications, and conduct thorough job analyses.
- Partner with Talent Management to organize and prepare interviews for various positions, ensuring alignment with operational needs.
- Facilitate internal talent mobility in response to organizational changes.
- Assist in evaluating compensation packages with Talent Management and hiring managers to finalize offers.
Compensation & Benefits:
- Conduct compensation analysis for workforce transitions and present findings to leadership for informed decision-making.
- Participate in annual compensation reviews, including merit administration and communication of outcomes to employees.
- Support participation in compensation surveys, ensuring data relevance and accuracy.
Employee Relations:
- Manage employee relations issues effectively, collaborating with managers to address concerns promptly and professionally.
- Proactively engage in HR communications to enhance the employer-employee relationship.
- Participate in investigations and provide recommendations for disciplinary actions in consultation with the HR Manager.
- Offer guidance and coaching to managers and employees on performance management and development plans.
- Assist in implementing progressive discipline measures as necessary.
- Provide support and advice on various employment-related issues, including policy interpretation and strategic planning.
- Work closely with management to facilitate transitions such as promotions, relocations, and terminations in a respectful manner.
Talent Management:
- Support performance management processes and objective setting throughout the year.
- Provide feedback on performance management strategies to ensure alignment with business goals.
- Facilitate training sessions for staff as needed.
- Collaborate with HR Managers to conduct Talent and Succession Reviews, ensuring follow-up on action items.
- Partner with Learning & Development to assess training needs and implement appropriate programs.
- Support initiatives related to succession management.
Corporate Programs:
- Assist in the implementation of corporate HR initiatives as required.
- Engage in the development of new HR programs and initiatives.
- Oversee employee recognition programs, including service awards.
HR Team Engagement:
- Foster communication among HR team members to share best practices and ensure consistency.
- Collaborate with HR Coordinators to address employee inquiries regarding benefits and payroll.
HR Metrics & System Utilization:
- Conduct audits to verify the accuracy of employment data submitted for payroll processing.
- Generate ad hoc reports as needed.
- Provide training to others on navigating HR systems effectively.
Relationships with Other Jobs:
- This role requires strong interaction with front-line managers and the regional HR team, necessitating the ability to build relationships and understand operational needs quickly.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A degree in Human Resources Management or Business Administration is preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- Proficient in MS Office applications and capable of handling confidential information with discretion.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed recommendations.
- A proactive team player with a focus on customer service.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices.
- Ability to establish positive relationships with employees at all levels.
