Overview of the Position

The Principal Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis collaborates closely with the Senior Manager of FP&A, playing a vital role in the financial oversight and strategic development of the organization. This position is essential for driving the financial success of Nutrition International by performing thorough financial evaluations, generating financial documentation, and preparing ad-hoc Excel reports, while also forecasting future financial trends and contributing to the establishment of effective financial protocols.

In this capacity, you will be responsible for:

Budgeting and Financial Evaluation

• Generate customized reports and financial assessments as needed, translating data and requirements into insightful analysis by comprehending the intended impact or decisions the analysis will inform, its target audience, and the significance of the analysis while evaluating the necessary time and effort for completion.

• Maintain accurate and reconciled multi-year budgets for all active grants and revenue streams, ensuring a comprehensive organizational perspective and regularly updating files in accordance with new agreements and the organization’s quarterly and annual budgeting cycles.

• Collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of FP&A and the Finance Director for Budgeting and Compliance during the annual budgeting process, which includes coordination with various stakeholders, consolidation and analysis of budgets, and preparation of reports for senior leadership.

• Plan, coordinate, and oversee the organization’s quarterly budget adjustments, forecasting, and variance analysis exercises (rolling plans), providing support to business unit leaders and staff, including the development of tools, processes, and systems necessary for executing the quarterly rolling plan exercise, as well as producing final reports and analysis of trends while updating adjustments in the financial systems within the required timelines.

• Validate budget submissions by critically assessing key assumptions based on actual trends and work plans, following up with business and functional leads as necessary.

Financial Systems and Data Management

• Assist in enhancing the systems and databases utilized for budgeting, contracting, expenditure tracking, performance management, and forecasting to facilitate analysis, reconciliations, and planning at multiple organizational levels in alignment with the organization’s information and coding dimensions.

• Develop, conceptualize, and lead process flows, internal controls, and standardized user guidance, while organizing and delivering training sessions on the financial systems for both new and existing staff in consultation with other subject matter experts.

• Continuously improve and standardize the utilization of existing budgeting and financial tools to effectively deliver and communicate insights regarding business performance.

• Provide support for the Senior Database Analyst in creating executive management dashboard reports, maintaining common data, and performing other related duties.

Management and Training

• Educate staff within the Budgeting & Compliance team on the organization’s financial systems and processes.

• Organize training sessions for new employees and refresher courses for existing staff on topics related to financial systems and applications.
