Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for all activities involved with the period-end close and financial reporting process.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, with experience in IFRS environments and a methodical approach to problem-solving.

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for performing and interpreting detailed monthly variance analysis, assisting with accounting system conversions, and reviewing and preparing complex account reconciliations and journal entries.

The successful candidate will also be responsible for researching complex accounting issues, assisting with corporate consolidations and subsidiary eliminations, and preparing quarterly financial statements for the Board of Directors and subsidiary level.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform and interpret detailed monthly variance analysis on balance sheet and income statement line items at the subsidiary and consolidated level
  • Assist in accounting system conversion to ensure an accurate transition and subsequent financial reporting
  • Review and preparation of complex account reconciliations and journal entries including assisting with corporate consolidations and subsidiary eliminations
  • Research complex accounting issues under local and US GAAP reporting and assist in implementation of upcoming IFRS standards
  • Assist in interim and year-end financial and SOX audits. Documentation of policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with SOX
  • Prepare quarterly financial statements at the consolidated level for the Board of Directors and at the subsidiary level to satisfy provincial requirements
  • Research and trouble shoot accounting issues and draw conclusions, perform ad-hoc financial analysis projects as needed to support the business
Requirements
  • CPA, CA preferred (CPA designation required) with at least 3+ years of related experience
  • Experience in financial reporting within International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) environment
  • Methodical and logical problem solver with strong attention to detail
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with the other Microsoft Office products
  • Exposure to consolidations and accounting tools such as Hyperion, Oracle and Epicor would be an asset
