Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Interpreter/Resource Worker to provide assistance, guidance, and support to patients and their families in navigating the healthcare system. As an Interpreter/Resource Worker, you will play a vital role in facilitating communication between healthcare providers and patients.

About the Role: The successful candidate will provide interpretation services in Cree, Ojibway/Saulteaux, and Oji-Cree to ensure that patients receive high-quality care and have access to medical information in their primary language. You will work closely with healthcare teams to ensure that patients receive the best possible care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide interpretation services in Cree, Ojibway/Saulteaux, and Oji-Cree to patients and their families
  • Assist patients and families in navigating the healthcare system
  • Work closely with healthcare teams to ensure that patients receive high-quality care
  • Provide guidance and support to patients and families to make informed decisions about their care
  • Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare providers and patients

Requirements:

  • Related experience in a healthcare setting
  • Language competency in a specified Indigenous language: one of Cree, Ojibway/Saulteaux, or Oji-Cree
  • General knowledge of medical terminology
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Knowledge and understanding of Indigenous culture
  • Ability to interact well with other healthcare professionals, patients, and families
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of computer systems and proficiency in the use of current software applications
  • Ability to prioritize workload and work independently
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
