At CIS Ontario, we are dedicated to fostering a dynamic learning environment that inspires students to explore the world of robotics. Our organization is committed to providing an inclusive educational experience for students in grades 7 through 12, encouraging them to develop their skills and contribute positively to society.

Position Overview

We are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Robotics Coach to lead our expanding robotics program. This role is pivotal in guiding students through the exciting realm of robotics, where creativity and technology intersect.

As the Robotics Coach, you will collaborate closely with educational leaders and faculty members, ensuring the seamless operation of our robotics initiatives. Your expertise will help students navigate the complexities of robotics while fostering a culture of teamwork and innovation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement the robotics curriculum, preparing students for competitions with well-engineered robots and strategic approaches.
  • Work in partnership with staff and student leaders to enhance the program's structure and manage the procurement of necessary materials and technology.
  • Stay informed about the latest advancements in robotics, integrating new technologies and methodologies into the program to enhance student success.
  • Cultivate an inclusive and creative team environment where students learn to view challenges as opportunities for growth.
  • Provide training and supervision for students during robotics competitions, ensuring they are well-prepared and supported.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required.

The hours for this position will be flexible, aligning with the robotics program's activities as needed.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A background in Computer Science, STEM, or engineering.
  • Experience in robotics competitions, particularly with VEX or FIRST, either as a coach or participant.
  • A track record of working with middle and high school students.
  • Proven coaching experience.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.

Compensation and Work Schedule

This position is casual and unionized, with a flexible work schedule designed to accommodate the robotics program's needs. Compensation is competitive, with an hourly rate for coaching and related activities, along with additional compensation for tournament participation.
