Position Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Robotics Coach to lead our expanding robotics program. This role is pivotal in guiding students through the intricacies of robotics and preparing them for competitive events.

As the Robotics Coach, you will work closely with the leadership team and collaborate with faculty members to ensure the program's success. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing the robotics curriculum, focusing on VEX Robotics, and mentoring students to develop competition-ready robots.
  • Collaborating with educational staff and student leaders to enhance the program's structure and manage the procurement of necessary materials and technology.
  • Staying informed about the latest advancements in robotics and integrating innovative practices into the program.
  • Cultivating a supportive and creative team environment where students can learn from challenges and develop resilience.
  • Training students for robotics competitions and overseeing their participation in events, whether virtual or in-person.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

The working hours will be flexible to accommodate robotics activities as required by the institution.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A background in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • Experience in robotics competitions, particularly with VEX or similar programs, either as a coach or participant.
  • Proven experience working with middle and high school students.
  • Strong coaching skills and the ability to inspire young learners.
  • Proficiency in CAD software.

Compensation and Work Schedule

This position is casual and unionized, with a flexible schedule that aligns with the robotics program's activities. Compensation is competitive, with an hourly rate for coaching and related responsibilities. Additional rates apply for participation in robotics events and competitions.

Application Process

Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a current resume detailing relevant qualifications and experience, along with a cover letter through the designated application portal. We appreciate all applications; however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
