Civil Liability Claims Specialist

As a Civil Liability Claims Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to assist clients with their civil liability claims via phone. You will focus on a range of property damage incidents, including those involving snow removal vehicles, water damage, contractor work, and storage agreements. Your duties will encompass guiding clients through the claims process, assessing claim eligibility, conducting investigations to ascertain liability, evaluating damages, and negotiating settlements with third parties.
In the role of Claims Investigation Expert, you will engage with clients over the phone to address their claims for both commercial and personal insurance. Your tasks will include conducting phone investigations to determine liability, assessing damages, and negotiating settlements when necessary. Additionally, you will oversee litigious files, collaborate with legal experts to devise strategies, and explore alternative methods for dispute resolution.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver outstanding customer service by guiding clients through the claims process and ensuring their needs are met.
- Analyze client insurance coverage and clarify their protections in relation to the claims presented.
- Collect factual information over the phone regarding each claim's circumstances, working alongside experts such as engineers and assessors.
- Evaluate potential liability of the insured and/or third parties through comprehensive investigations.
- Assess the validity and reasonableness of claimed damages.
- Maintain effective communication with clients to keep them updated on their claims.
- Document and manage files in accordance with company standards.
- Negotiate claims with third parties when appropriate.
- Efficiently manage costs and external expenditures.
- Collaborate with various departments within the organization.
- Participate in significant events, settlement discussions, and trials.
Qualifications
- Possess a 5A claims expert certificate.
- Hold a college diploma or equivalent relevant education or experience.
- Experience in handling personal and commercial property claims is preferred.
- Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service and possess excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of civil liability claims is advantageous.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English is required.
