Job Description

Job Title: Teaching Assistant - Operations Management

Department: DeGroote School of Business

Job Type: Part-time

Reports to: Faculty Member

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and organized Teaching Assistant to support the Operations Management program at McMaster University. The successful candidate will assist in leading tutorials, overseeing laboratories, and supervising field trips, while also preparing course materials and providing student consultation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead tutorials and oversee laboratories, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment
  • Prepare course materials, including reading assignments, lecture notes, and exams
  • Meet with instructors to discuss course progress and student performance
  • Provide student consultation, including email and office hours support
  • Invigilate exams and assignments, ensuring academic integrity
  • Grade student work, including marking and entering marks
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the faculty member
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A minimum A- in the course or equivalent
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to candidates who:

  • Are registered in the same program or department
  • Have completed specific courses or have relevant experience
  • Are full-time or part-time students
Working Conditions

This is a part-time position, with variable hours and locations. The successful candidate will be required to attend classes and meetings as needed.
