Reporting to the Executive Director and working closely with the Case Management team at the Nawican Friendship Centre, the Employment Coordinator will be responsible for coordination of direct services in employment and training. The Employment Coordinator will focus on supporting the Indigenous workforce through the process of holistic case management. This individual will be able to multitask, have familiarity with basic office procedures, and demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills. The Employment Coordinator will be directly involved with all clients and will provide resources and assistance as needed on a case-by-case basis. They will be responsible for (but not limited to) developing a plan of action for each client, acquiring services based on the action plan, advocating, liaising with colleagues and external agencies, as well as follow-up and review of all active case files while adhering to operational budgets and time-sensitive circumstances. The Employment Coordinator must be highly organized, empathetic, compassionate, nonjudgmental, and eager to help and support. This person will be team-oriented and possess a desire to promote healthy living and the spirit of the Friendship Centre Movement.

**Key Duties and Responsibilities**
- Coordinate the day-to-day operation of the department and associated services to clients by building relationships with local employers, industry, and municipalities
- Provide access to employment training and other services deemed necessary to reach the required certification to enhance skills to fit employer expectations
- Establish an on-going network of employment and training partners, key supports, and develop tools to further assist clients with successful transition into the workplace
- Attend job fairs and inform clients of all required information of specific job requirements and expectations.
- Research the latest labour market trends and distribute this information through the Centre and to all clients applicable that match these vocational attributes
- Track all points of service daily and provide reports for the Executive Director and Board of Directors
- Maintain a friendly and cooperative working atmosphere in keeping with a Friendship Centre
- Meet with the management team to discuss areas of concern to help the client overcome barriers to employment and provide follow through of client progress
- Facilitate employment workshops when needed and coordinate all duties required to set up these workshops
- Establish effective communication amongst all staff and maintain a healthy work environment
- Ensure all paperwork is completed on time and tasks delivered with professionalism and attention to detail
- Ability to take responsibility and work at times unsupervised
- Cross-train for coverage in Programs when required to cover for staff absences
- Confidentiality is treated with the upmost care and diligence

**Knowledge and Abilities**
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, both orally and in writing
- Aware of current job market, trends, job readiness training, and other relevant information
- Understanding of barriers to employment and life skills training
- Experience delivering employment related workshops and group facilitation
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills and the desire to work in a positive team environment
- Self-motivated, inspiring, and action oriented
- Knowledge of Indigenous Canadian history, culture, and organizations
- Work well with a range of different individuals, and can communicate clearly, politely, and effectively

**Qualifications & Experience**
- Grade 12 Diploma (or equivalent Adult Dogwood), with post-secondary education in related field(s) considered to be an asset
- Experience in the Social Service Sector, have knowledge and/or training as a Career Development Counsellor or Career Practitioner
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (including Word, Excel, and Outlook), Zoom or other videoconference programs, and online storage systems (Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud, Google Drive)
- Must be able to provide a current criminal record check
- Valid Class 5 Driver’s License with clean Driver’s Abstract
- Pursuant to section 41 of the BC Human Rights Code, preference may be given to applicants of Aboriginal ancestry._
