Position: Custodial Services Specialist

Wage: Temporary wage set at $24.36 per hour

As a vital member of our Accommodations team, you will consistently deliver exceptional customer service while working for Sodexo. The Custodial Services Specialist may be assigned to various locations within client premises. This role involves maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in the facilities. The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Key Responsibilities:
  • Engage effectively with facility personnel, patients, residents, or visitors.
  • Execute basic cleaning tasks in designated areas following established schedules and methods.
  • Dust horizontal surfaces.
  • Empty waste receptacles and recycling bins, remove waste, and replace liners.
  • Damp wipe and clean all furniture.
  • Clean and polish metal and porcelain fixtures in restrooms.
  • Spot clean walls and windows.
  • Polish metal surfaces.
  • Restock room supplies.
  • Vacuum carpets.
  • Perform discharge duties as needed.
  • Change linens and transport them to the designated area.
  • Conduct more intensive cleaning tasks in assigned areas according to established schedules and methods.
  • Dust and wet mop floors. Scrub or buff floors using appropriate equipment. Vacuum and shampoo carpets for cleanliness and bacterial control. Strip and refinish hard surface floors.
  • Dispose of biohazard and chemical waste according to prescribed methods.
  • Clean light fixtures and fittings.
  • Measure and mix cleaning chemicals.
  • Maintain assigned equipment in a clean condition and recommend repairs as necessary.
  • Complete all other tasks as assigned.
  • Damp dust equipment at the end of shifts or as required to maintain a clean working environment.
  • Ensure sinks and counters are kept clean and disinfected.
  • Report all equipment issues to the Manager or Supervisor.
  • Follow and execute tasks outlined in the Duty List.
  • Consistently maintain a safe work environment (e.g., using wet floor signage).
  • Responsible for performing duties according to safe work practices by:
    • Learning the safe methods for completing tasks and seeking guidance when uncertain.
    • Executing each task safely using provided equipment, following instructions and established procedures.
    • Reporting all injuries and hazardous conditions to management immediately.
    • Supporting the Safety Program within the unit.
  • Any additional duties as requested by your supervisor.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum grade 10 education.
  • Building Services Certificate.
  • Demonstrated experience in Customer Service.
  • Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, to ensure safe job performance.
  • Pass a physical examination as required by the client.
  • Clearance for a Criminal record check.
  • Ability to utilize supplies, tools, and equipment after initial training.
  • Capability to stand for 8 hours, lift, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach.
