Position Overview
The Electrical Laboratory Technician plays a crucial role in supporting both staff and students within the program labs. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the efficient operation of laboratory environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist and support users in the program labs, ensuring a productive learning environment.
- Oversee the installation, configuration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and calibration of laboratory equipment.
- Manage the installation and maintenance of computer systems and network software relevant to the program.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of lab supplies and equipment.
- Provide recommendations for the procurement of essential materials and supplies.
- Stay updated on advancements in laboratory practices, materials, and supplies.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols within the laboratory settings.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Grade 12 education.
- Possession of a Red Seal Electrician certification in Saskatchewan or a relevant combination of education and experience, such as in electronic technology or instrumentation.
- A minimum of two years of recent and relevant experience in the electrical field.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electronic and electrical systems.
- Mechanical aptitude with a good understanding of computer systems.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency response procedures.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment.
