Position Overview: Director – Global Asset Liability Management (GALM)
Product Support & Investment Strategy Team – North America
The Global Asset Liability Management (GALM) team is pivotal in identifying and managing asset/liability risks for the global general accounts. As a member of the Product Support & Investment Strategy team, the successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues worldwide to design and assess investment and hedging strategies while supporting growth objectives. Additionally, the candidate will contribute to the ongoing enhancement of the team's tools and methodologies.
The Product Support & Investment Strategy team collaborates closely with professionals across various investment teams, finance and pricing units, and group functions (e.g., Risk, Actuarial, Capital, Tax, Treasury). The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical and communication skills, the capability to manage projects and objectives independently, and familiarity with insurance company balance sheets (liabilities, assets, required capital, and hedging instruments). This role will focus primarily on North American operations while also offering opportunities to engage with global functions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and recommend general account investment strategies aligned with Business Unit, Segment, and Group objectives.
- Oversee projects and influence resources across various disciplines (e.g., Investments, Business Units, Risk, Actuarial, Capital) and regions.
- Collaborate with Business Units to provide investment strategies for new product initiatives.
- Support ALM initiatives and ad-hoc projects, including segment consolidation, reinsurance, and M&A products.
- Investigate investment and hedging strategy topics, including implications of regulatory changes on investment strategy.
- Continuously seek opportunities to enhance the current strategy review process and documentation.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders, including regular meetings with colleagues globally.
Qualifications:
- FSA/FCIA with investment experience, or a Master's in a quantitative discipline, or CFA/PRM/FRM, or other relevant risk management certification.
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in a financial/investment risk management setting.
- Exceptional quantitative finance and/or mathematics capabilities.
- In-depth knowledge of insurance company assets (fixed income, alternative investments, derivatives), liabilities (insurance and wealth management products), and asset/liability modeling.
- Prior experience in an ALM function is advantageous.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment across multiple disciplines and time zones.
- Proactive and capable of driving projects forward in a dynamic environment.
