Job Overview

The Senior Underwriter – Personal Lines is a key member of our team, responsible for analyzing complex business risks and providing expert guidance to policyholders. With a strong focus on customer service, this role requires a high level of analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to develop and implement underwriting strategies and guidelines.
  • Analyze complex risk data and make informed decisions regarding policy acceptability.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with policyholders, providing exceptional customer service and support.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and developments, applying this knowledge to improve underwriting practices and policies.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of business change initiatives, ensuring a smooth transition for all stakeholders.
  • Provide training and mentorship to junior team members, promoting knowledge sharing and skill development.
  • Contribute to the development of underwriting policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Post-secondary education or related business experience.
  • Completed or actively pursuing a Property and Casualty Industry Designation.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
