About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Commercial Lines Property and Casualty Underwriter to join our Aviva Business Insurance (ABI) unit in Winnipeg. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for underwriting commercial P&C business, with a focus on profitable growth and customer service excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and evaluate risk for new and existing business, ensuring accurate and timely underwriting decisions.
- Collaborate with more junior underwriters to develop and share knowledge and skills, promoting a culture of excellence and continuous learning.
- Analyze reports to determine adequate exposure and loss rating, making informed decisions to mitigate risk.
- Stay up-to-date with market trends, pricing levels, and policy form amendments, applying this knowledge to drive business growth and profitability.
- Negotiate renewal terms for the retention of business, building strong relationships with brokers and clients.
- Utilize loss control and risk management practices in the underwriting process, ensuring the highest standards of quality and service.
- Respond to inquiries from brokers regarding policy modifications, providing prompt and efficient service.
- Work with brokers to develop new business opportunities, leveraging your expertise and network to drive growth.
- Develop and maintain excellent broker relationships, managing assigned broker portfolios and driving business development.
- Provide exceptional customer service, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of support and satisfaction.
Requirements:
- 5-10 years of commercial P&C underwriting experience, with a strong track record of success and growth.
- CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation preferred.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with brokers, clients, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational and administration skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Highly motivated and enthusiastic, with a passion for delivering exceptional results and exceeding expectations.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with a collaborative and supportive approach.
- Good computer skills, with proficiency in relevant software and systems.
- Ability to meet challenging deadlines and perform effectively under pressure, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
