Job Title: Supportive Learning Assistant
Job Summary:
Lethbridge School Division is seeking a Supportive Learning Assistant to join our team. As a Supportive Learning Assistant, you will work closely with students who require targeted and specialized supports and services to effectively participate in their learning community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students with and adapt academic tasks to meet their individual needs
- Implement strategies to support socially appropriate behaviors and attend to physical and medical needs
- Monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers to develop and implement individualized plans
- Work collaboratively with the school community to share information and reflect on the effectiveness of strategies
- Assume other duties as required to support student success
Requirements:
- Grade 12 or General Educational Development (GED) diploma
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in a related field (asset)
- Experience working with students with exceptionalities (asset)
- Training and/or experience with Positive Behavior Support Plans (asset)
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other school staff
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
Working Conditions:
The Supportive Learning Assistant will work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with teachers and other school staff to support student success. The successful candidate will be required to provide personal care, lifting, and toileting support for students, as well as participate in community activities.
