About the Role

The City of Barrie is seeking a skilled Road Maintenance Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Operations Department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and accessibility of our city's roads and sidewalks.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair sidewalks, roadsides, and roads to ensure safe passage for citizens and visitors.
  • Operate and maintain various equipment and vehicles, including snowplows, sanders, and salt spreaders.
  • Perform manual and motorized tasks, including heavy lifting and equipment operation.
  • Lead and direct assigned crews to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Write clear and concise reports and maintain accurate records of job materials used and time spent.
Requirements
  • Valid Ontario Class 'D' Driver's Licence with a 'Z' endorsement in good standing, or ability and willingness to obtain within 1 year.
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check.
  • Secondary School Diploma or equivalent experience.
  • At least six months of experience performing duties related to road maintenance and construction.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a municipal work environment and knowledge of municipal construction, maintenance, and equipment operations.
