In this role, reporting to the Senior Claims Manager for Property & Marine, you will be responsible for overseeing commercial lines property claims that involve moderate to high exposure and complexity. Your goal will be to ensure claims are processed efficiently and effectively while maintaining a strong focus on customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately document claims files by capturing and updating claims data in accordance with industry Best Practices for complex commercial lines claims.
  • Utilize analytical skills to verify policy coverage and determine applicable coverage for claims.
  • Develop case strategies to achieve timely resolutions, including case evaluations and issue escalation as necessary.
  • Establish and review reserves throughout the claims cycle within your authority limits, estimating and validating claim values.
  • Adhere to quality standards by following established Best Practices.
  • Enhance customer service by proactively communicating with clients, addressing inquiries, and participating in customer engagement initiatives.
  • Manage expenses effectively by collaborating with approved vendors and overseeing the scope of work assigned to external contractors.
  • Contribute to the growth of the business by providing insights and trends relevant to risk management.
  • Maintain professional knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities and staying informed about industry developments.
Qualifications - What You Bring

Essential:

  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the Claims or Insurance sector.
  • OR completion of Zurich's Certified Insurance Apprentice program, including an Associate Degree and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • OR successful completion of Zurich's Claims Training Program with 3 years of experience in Claims or Insurance.
  • OR a High School Diploma or equivalent with at least 5 years of experience in the Claims or Insurance field.
  • AND the ability to obtain and maintain necessary adjuster licenses.
  • Familiarity with insurance regulations, markets, and products.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred:

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Effective time management and prioritization skills.
  • Experience in collaborative team environments and building cross-functional relationships.
  • Ability to explain complex financial and actuarial concepts clearly.
  • Skill in assessing the scope and exposure of moderately complex claims.
  • Understanding of the reserving process for indemnity and expenses in analyzing claims exposure.
  • Capability to develop negotiation strategies and plans for resolution.
  • Proficiency in identifying nuances in client and business partner interactions.
  • Ability to present necessary information for proposing claim resolutions to stakeholders.
  • French language skills are required for candidates applying to specific office locations.
  • Proficiency in English is essential for effective communication with key stakeholders.

Compensation: Salary ranges vary based on multiple factors, including office location, role, skill set, and experience. The starting salary range for this position is $63,700 to $104,300.
