About the Position
We are seeking a Claims Consultant to enhance our expanding team.
As a Claims Consultant within our National EBI/Energy Specialty Claims division, you will manage intricate claims across various distribution channels. Your responsibilities will include the direct oversight and monitoring of first-party claims, along with some third-party complex claims, with exposures both domestically and internationally.
The claims you will handle may encompass Energy, Equipment breakdown, Commercial Property, Environmental Liability, and other Specialty Claims.
Your Responsibilities:
- Oversee, investigate, analyze, negotiate, and resolve substantial and intricate Commercial, Energy, and Equipment breakdown property claims typically exceeding $1 Million, involving specialized loss types;
- When necessary, engage and manage consultants, independent adjusters, accounts, and engineers to verify coverage, establish liability, and evaluate damages;
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to regional file handlers to ensure consistent and effective claims management and support long-term succession planning;
- Train colleagues on the handling of complex claims;
- Collaborate with Underwriting and Loss Prevention to identify potential risks, hazards, and trends;
- Deliver exceptional customer service to Brokers, Clients, and Colleagues;
- Meet and exceed all key performance indicators related to loss development, loss adjustment expenses, claims leakage control, and expense management;
- Utilize your expertise in a creative, continuous improvement environment to support a model of best practice operations;
- Negotiate claims effectively when necessary;
- Participate in settlement conferences and trials;
- Visit loss locations and attend broker and client meetings as appropriate.
Your Qualifications:
- Over 10 years of experience in the direct management of large and complex commercial property claims, with at least 5 years focused on large and complex equipment breakdown and energy claims;
- Technical proficiency gained through extensive experience in managing large and complex property claims;
- A critical thinker with intellectual curiosity when tackling complex issues in time-sensitive scenarios;
- A proficient communicator capable of fostering positive business relationships and providing clear guidance to clients;
- A problem solver adept at gathering information, assessing situations, and negotiating the next steps toward resolution;
- Ability to adapt to evolving needs and demonstrate flexibility and agility;
- A strategic planner with strong organizational skills;
- A collaborative team player with a passion for mentoring and coaching others;
- Solid understanding of relevant regulatory and legal requirements pertinent to this role;
- Undergraduate Degree or CIP designation (preferred);
- Willingness to travel as required.
