**Position Overview**

**Patient Appointment Coordinator, Diagnostic Imaging:**
In this role, your primary responsibility will be to schedule patient appointments and register individuals for Medical Imaging services in a confidential and professional manner. You will handle report distribution, monitor transmissions, copy media, collect payments, and update both physician and patient records. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will interact with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and families. You should be capable of working independently as well as collaboratively, adept at managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This role supports the hospital's academic mission by promoting care through education and advancing research and innovation. Additionally, you will contribute to maintaining health and safety standards to ensure a safe environment for all stakeholders.

**Key Responsibilities**

  • Accurately record all booking requests and assign appointment times as necessary.
  • Gather all pertinent information related to bookings.
  • Communicate effectively with relevant departments regarding patient bookings and transportation.
  • Guide patients to the appropriate areas and inform them of any immediate preparations required (e.g., oral contrast, hydration).
  • Manage multiple phone lines from various units and external physician inquiries.
  • Prepare and distribute daily lists as needed, ensuring efficient fax transmissions of medical records, including troubleshooting and report distribution.
  • Welcome patients professionally upon registration, collecting and documenting necessary information.
  • Update patient records as required.
  • Demonstrate accurate data entry and typing skills (minimum 30 w.p.m.).
  • Possess working knowledge and experience with Cerner registration, Cerner scheduling, and Microsoft Word.
  • Understand medical terminology.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

**Qualifications**

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience with Cerner registration, Cerner scheduling, and Microsoft Word.
  • At least one year of experience in an office setting, ideally within a Department of Medical Imaging.
  • Bilingualism in French and English is an asset.
