Role Summary
As a crucial member of the Joint Department of Medical Imaging (JDMI), one of Canada's largest academic medical imaging departments, you will engage in a high-volume environment, performing over 750,000 exams annually. Our commitment to clinical excellence is supported by state-of-the-art digital technology and a dedicated team of over 700 staff and 90 specialized radiologists. Your contributions will be essential in delivering exceptional diagnostic services and maintaining the highest standards of patient care.

The Ultrasound division focuses on non-invasive diagnostic imaging techniques utilizing sound waves to visualize internal body structures, including organs, tissues, and blood flow.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct ultrasound imaging procedures across various departments as required.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and ensure the proper functioning of ultrasound and medical imaging equipment.
  • Prepare comprehensive written and electronic reports to document all procedures and test outcomes.
  • Participate in educational initiatives, safety programs, and quality improvement activities.
  • Undertake additional patient care responsibilities to optimize patient outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Certification from Sonography Canada or equivalent, based on the grandfathering program during sonography regulation in Ontario.
  • Current registration with the CMRITO and completion of annual continuing education requirements.
  • Completion of a Level II BCLS program: Basic Rescuer certification, with ongoing maintenance of certification.
  • Preferred membership with Sonography Canada.
  • Preferred registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB) and Abdomen (AB).
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and sensitivity towards patients in challenging situations.
  • Proven collaborative and inter-professional approach to practice.
  • Strong judgment to ensure patient safety and well-being.
  • Capability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and adapt to evolving processes.
