Key Responsibilities

The Risk Management Division plays a crucial role in fostering the sustainable development of SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SA by leveraging its expertise in risk assessment and management methodologies. The primary mission of this division is to conduct independent evaluations, assessments, and monitoring of risk-related activities, ensuring optimal outcomes in collaboration with the first line of defense. This division oversees various types of risks including enterprise, strategic, credit, market, liquidity, operational, model, and others associated with corporate and investment banking operations.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Enterprise Risk Management function encompasses all risk categories pertinent to SGS's operations:

  1. Facilitate risk analysis reporting to multiple risk committees, including the Enterprise Risk Committee and Executive Committee's Risk Committee.
  2. Establish and monitor compliance with Risk Appetite Statements for SGS and its operational sectors.
  3. Enhance and coordinate the risk identification and assessment framework, executing regular risk identification and assessment initiatives.
  4. Oversee and improve the stress testing framework, conducting routine stress testing exercises.
  5. Manage Strategic Risk and Environmental & Social Risk in a second line of defense capacity.
  6. Organize and supervise the risk management framework, roles, and responsibilities across all defense lines, contributing to the development of a Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) information system architecture.

The Enterprise Risk Management function is accountable for identifying, measuring, assessing, monitoring, controlling, and reporting on all risks faced by SGS. This proactive and continuous approach to risk management provides a comprehensive and integrated perspective of risks, enabling effective management aligned with business and strategic objectives.

Daily Responsibilities:

The selected risk professional will join the Risk Appetite and Assessment (RAA) team within the Enterprise Risk Management division, reporting to the Head of Risk Appetite and Assessment.

Daily tasks include, but are not limited to:

  1. Support the ongoing development and implementation of Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing and oversight of the Strategic Risk program.
  2. Ensure effective oversight and challenge to all components involved in the Enterprise-Wide Stress Test program.
  3. Lead analytical initiatives across the Enterprise-Wide Stress program and Strategic Risk.
  4. Assist in the development and maintenance of a comprehensive Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing methodology and related documentation.
  5. Support governance management of the Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing Committee.
  6. Maintain the design and flexibility of data requirements as per applicable regulations.
  7. Enhance capabilities related to advanced data analytics and reporting necessary for Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing.
  8. Coordinate the identification and impact assessment of risk scenarios that may influence the organization.
  9. Engage in transformation projects associated with Enterprise Wide Stress Testing and Strategic Risk.
  10. Facilitate self-assessment ratings and risk assessment outputs across enterprise-level Risk Committees.
  11. Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of SGS's Risk Appetite Statement.
  12. Assist in the enhancement of key documents including policies, procedures, and methodologies.
  13. Support initiatives aimed at addressing independent findings from regulatory, testing, and audit processes.
  14. Contribute to risk monitoring efforts through the enhancement and development of risk analytics.
  15. Participate in transversal topics such as regulatory examinations and change management activities.

Qualifications:

Essential:

  1. Minimum of 5 years' experience in a relevant role with a strong foundation in risk management concepts and techniques.
  2. Solid understanding of quantitative principles related to stress testing and key activities in capital markets.
  3. Experience in project management, particularly in innovation initiatives, is advantageous.
  4. Proficient in MS Office and capable of cross-discipline data analytics using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or SAS.
  5. Experience in supporting various risk types (credit, operational, market, liquidity) and related products.
  6. Ability to synthesize data for executive summaries and deliver structured presentations.
  7. Master's degree or equivalent in financial engineering, economics, actuarial science, statistics, mathematics, or a related field.
  8. Strong communication, influencing, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to perform under pressure.

Desirable:

  1. Experience in stress testing, risk modeling, or quantitative fields with the ability to effectively communicate outcomes to management.

Language Requirement:

Proficiency in English, both verbal and written, is essential for collaboration with colleagues and partners.
